Almost Poetry

rock-steady

You.

You.

You.

You have loved me
like mountains do —
steady and
unmoved.

(And stormswept, rainslicked,
rockstrewn, too — oh, God!
how the lightning clawed and
slashed through the stones.)

*

But still.

You.

*

All this time.

Only You. ❤

    • Thanks, Miriam! I enjoyed tinkering with it. It’s still unfinished (which is why I always categorize these posts under “Almost Poetry”), and this is one that I could see taking different directions at the end.

The last line will occur to me eventually. 🙂

  1. Great tribute to the unnamed ‘you’.

Also the title took me way back to my childhood in the 80’s:
    Hey you, the rocksteady crew
Show what you do, make a break make a move.

Off now for a burnout 🙂
