Secret Messages

One Simple Little Message, Left in Lake Spring Park: Day Twenty-Seven

This post is part of the Secret Messages Project.  Every day for thirty days, I’ll leave my words in places where they might be found — or might never be found at all.  I hope you’ll join me.

Sometimes, the simplest messages say it best.

Which is why I show up at Lake Spring Park this morning with just one stone in my pocket.  I slip my hand into my coat and finger the stone with a gloved hand.

It’s enough.

At this hour the sunlight is fierce, almost solid, and the wind is bitter cold.  It riffles the lake, and the ducks all hunch down into their feather collars the way humans hunch down into scarves.

I cross the stone footbridge to the other side of the lake and find a bench that peels invitingly in the sun.

I pull out the stone and stare down at it in my palm.

Sometimes one word is all you need:

I leave it there waiting for you. ❤
